🍄 For small gourmet & functional mushroom farms

Run your mushroom farm on more than a notebook.

Mycro tracks every batch from spawn to final flush — so you catch contamination early, stop guessing your yields, and finally know your real cost and profit per block.

No login, no install — your batches save right in your browser. Oyster, lion's mane, shiitake, king trumpet & more. Built for legal culinary & medicinal growers.

Mycro is free grow-operations software for small gourmet and functional mushroom farms. It tracks every batch from spawn to final flush, working out biological efficiency, contamination rate and cost per pound automatically, and traces any block back through grain spawn, liquid culture and petri dish to the source it came from. It runs in a browser with no account.

Right now you're probably running on a spreadsheet. It works… until contamination creeps in unnoticed, a strain quietly underperforms for three cycles, or a restaurant asks for a price and you realize you don't actually know your cost per pound. Mycro is built for exactly this.

Not a generic farm app with mushrooms bolted on.

Field-crop software models beds and rows. Mushroom farming is indoor, biological, batch-based manufacturing — and the things that decide whether you make money are different.

The actual batch tracker — not just a calculator. Add a batch, advance it through each stage, and get biological efficiency, days-in-stage and your contamination rate automatically. Comes preloaded with sample batches; saves on your device.

Culture Library & traceability

Everything above the block: source → petri dish → liquid culture → grain spawn. Each culture takes a tracking code from its parent, so flagging one contaminated plate lists every jar, bag and batch that came off it. Shares one record with the grow log, so a block traces back to the plate and the supplier.

Common questions

What is Mycro?

Mycro is grow-operations software for small gourmet and functional mushroom farms — the growers selling oyster, lion's mane and shiitake to restaurants, markets and CSAs. It runs in any web browser with nothing to install, and includes a free Grow Log plus calculators for substrate, spawn ratio, yield and cost.

Is there a free mushroom grow log?

Yes. Mycro's Grow Log is free with no sign-up — open usemycro.com/grow-log.html and start logging batches in your browser. It tracks each batch from inoculation through colonization, fruiting and harvest, and automatically computes biological efficiency, days-in-stage, an overdue-colonization flag and your contamination rate. It exports to CSV and JSON.

Is there free mushroom traceability software?

Yes. Mycro's Culture Library is free with no account at usemycro.com/culture-library.html. Traceability here means answering two questions about anything on your shelf: where did this come from, and what else came from the same place. Log a source once, add petri dishes, liquid cultures and grain spawn under it, and each takes a tracking code derived from its parent, so the code on the jar carries the lineage. Mark anything contaminated and it lists every culture, container and block descended from it, plus the parent and siblings it came from. It keeps your own records rather than acting as a certified food-safety or compliance system.

How much does Mycro cost?

The free tools and Grow Log cost $0 with no account. A one-time $99 Founding Grower spot is available today: it opens a sign-in account straight away, so your log syncs across every device, and it locks founder pricing for life. It is refundable any time. The monthly cloud plans are not open yet — the Grower plan targets about $12/month (unlimited batches, analytics, reports) and the Farm plan about $24/month for wholesale orders, labels and multi-user.

Does Mycro have accounts, and do I need one?

The free tools need no account at all — the Grow Log and Culture Library run in your browser and back themselves up automatically to a private link you can open on any device. Signed-in accounts also exist and are live: sign-in is passwordless, so there is no password to pick or lose, and a signed-in log follows your email onto any device with no link to keep track of. Accounts are currently opened by the one-time $99 Founding Grower spot.

How is Mycro different from MycoFile or MycoHub?

MycoFile and MycoHub are native mobile apps you install. Mycro runs in any web browser with nothing to download, its Grow Log is free with no account or item cap, and its grow-math engine is open source. Mycro is built specifically for the commercial gourmet and functional farm rather than the hobby grower.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Mycro is web-based — it opens in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to download or update. The free Grow Log works without an account, saving your batches in the browser, and it backs them up automatically to a private link you can open anywhere. A Founding Grower account replaces that link with a real sign-in, so the same log follows your email onto any device.

What is biological efficiency, and does Mycro calculate it?

Biological efficiency (BE) is fresh harvest weight as a percentage of dry substrate weight — the core yield metric for mushroom farms. Mycro calculates BE automatically for every batch in the Grow Log and Grow Calculator, so you can compare strains and substrates. A typical oyster batch runs roughly 75–100% BE.

Who is Mycro for?

Mycro is for small commercial gourmet and functional mushroom farms — operations selling oyster, lion's mane, shiitake and similar culinary or medicinal mushrooms weekly to restaurants, farmers' markets and CSAs. It's built for the serious hobbyist going pro and the established small farm, not for psilocybin or large industrial operations.

Who builds Mycro

Mycro is built by Sascha Heyer, working directly with the growers who use it. Every feature on this page came from a specific request by a working farm, not from a roadmap: the culture library and its contamination traceback, cost per pound by method and strain, the delivery labels, and the grain-spawn shake milestone were all asked for by name. The grow maths is open source and published on GitHub so the numbers can be checked rather than taken on trust.
